Glow brighter than the sun! Hilary Duff’s esthetician Anush Movsesian sat down with ET to share her top tips for maintaining glass-like skin all year long.
The sought-after skincare expert, and owner of Routine in Studio City, California, is booked until 2026 due to her thoughtful and results-driven method.
“Most of my patients are seeking healthy, glowing skin. Many are also concerned with reducing fine lines and wrinkles and improving overall skin texture for a more flawless and even makeup application,” Movsesian shares.
To master these goals, the aesthetic practitioner offers everything including injectables, lasers, hair removal, and more at her studio.
“I have an artistic and meticulous approach to filling lips and facial balancing. I’ve also been doing a lot of CO2 laser resurfacing treatments lately,” she says.
And while brighter days are ahead as we enter the warm weather seasons, it doesn’t mean you have to wait until the winter (or for a coveted appointment with Movsesian herself) to enhance your routine.
“It’s not that any treatment should be avoided in the spring and summer months, but most require minimal to no sun exposure while your skin is healing. If you choose to get a treatment when you are in the sun more often, it is important to be diligent about limiting your exposure for the most optimal results and safety of your new skin,” she explains.
Other than staying inside and investing in a wide-brimmed hat, or a full-face cover visor, protecting your skin with sunscreen every day is always key.
“Skipping SPF in your morning skincare routine is an absolute no-no. … It is imperative to amp up your SPF usage in the warmer months. The focus should also be on hydration during the day rather than just lathering on very thick moisturizers and creams,” she notes.
In between treatments, staying consistent with your regimen will also help prolong your radiant appearance.
“Your skincare needs to be applied routinely. … Double cleanse your skin at night, first with an oil-based cleanser to remove makeup and dirt, followed by a second round with a gentle cleanser to actually clean your skin,” Movsesian suggests.
To take it up a notch, the family nurse practitioner recommends incorporating a retinol product as well.
“People have an overall fear of retinol, but the key is to start with a gentle formula a couple of times a week and gradually build up to more frequent usage, and eventually, a stronger formula. … A lot of people think retinol can thin out the skin, but it is not true. In fact, it does the opposite, and actually helps produce collagen,” she spills.
